Thomas Brennan is our Senior Vice President of Asset Management and has held this position since March 2016. Mr. Brennan was most recently Senior Vice President of Lodging Asset Management for The JBG Companies, a development and investment firm focused on office, residential, retail, and hotel assets in the greater Washington, DC region. At JBG, Mr. Brennan was responsible for a $1B hotel portfolio of upscale hotels operating under the Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, Westin, Kimpton, and Sheraton brands. Mr. Brennan brings over 20 years of hotel and real estate experience to Xenia, including senior asset management positions with Host Hotels and Resorts, HEI Hotels and Resorts, and DiamondRock Hospitality. His background also includes tenures at Laventhol & Horwath in Washington, DC and Hazel Land Development in Northern Virginia. Mr. Brennan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. He is a past president and board member of the Hospitality Asset Manager Association.
Jack Elkins, Jr.

Jack D. Elkins, Jr. is our Senior Vice President of Project Management and has held this position with Xenia or its affiliated entities since 2010. In this capacity, Mr. Elkins reports to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the management of all planning, design and construction efforts related to capital budgets. He is accountable for the successful execution of all capital improvement work and overall management of annual capital budgets. From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Elkins was Senior Vice President of Planning, Design and Construction for an affiliate of Reynolds Plantation. From 2000 to 2008, Mr. Elkins was Senior Vice President of Design and Construction for CNL Hotels & Resorts, Inc. and its successor, Pyramid Advisors, who (in partnership with Morgan Stanley Real Estate Investments) acquired CNL Hotels and Resorts, Inc. in 2007. Prior to joining CNL, Mr. Elkins was an executive level manager with Welbro Building Corporation. Mr. Elkins received his Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University and has more than 30 years of commercial design and construction experience.
Senior Vice President and General CounselView Bio
Taylor C. Kessel is our Senior Vice President and General Counsel and serves as the company’s Secretary. Mr. Kessel joined the company in January 2015. In this role, Mr. Kessel is responsible for managing the legal affairs of Xenia and its affiliates, including corporate governance, compliance with securities regulations, acquisitions and dispositions, loan transactions, litigation management, and providing legal support to the asset management and project management teams. Previously, Mr. Kessel served as Corporate Counsel for Ruth’s Hospitality Group, Inc., a publicly traded restaurant company and the operator of Ruth’s Chris Steak House, from 2011 through 2014. Prior to Ruth’s, Mr. Kessel served as Corporate Counsel for CNL Lifestyle Properties, a public REIT that invests in income-producing properties with a focus on lifestyle-related industries. Mr. Kessel is a member of the Florida Bar and a graduate of University of Florida Frederick G. Levin College Of Law and holds a Masters of Science in Real Estate and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management both from the Warrington College of Business at University of Florida.

Curtis A. Campbell serves as our Assistant Controller and is responsible for overseeing accounting functions and reporting. Prior to joining us in 2014, Mr. Campbell served as Director of Accounting for CNL Financial Group and previously, as Controller/Vice President for CNL Lifestyle Properties, a public lifestyle REIT, from 2005 through 2014. Mr. Campbell also served as Accounting Manager for CNL Hotels and Resorts, a public lodging REIT, from 2002 through 2005. Mr. Campbell is a Certified Public Accountant and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida State University.

Nina DeMartino serves as Vice President of Project Management and is responsible for the oversight of renovation and large capital projects. Prior to joining Xenia, Ms. DeMartino served as Director of Design and Construction with Shingle Creek Real Estate Advisory Company, working on many notable projects in the Central Florida area. Ms. DeMartino also held previous positions with Tishman Hotel Corporation, CNL Hotels and Resorts and Walt Disney Imagineering. Ms. DeMartino received a Bachelor of Design in Architecture from the University of Florida, which included enrollment at the Vicenza Institute of Architecture in Vicenza, Italy.

Shamir D. Kanji is our Vice President of Investments and has held this position since January 2015. In this role, Mr. Kanji has responsibility for our business development, acquisitions, dispositions, capital reinvestment and ROI analysis. Prior to joining us in 2012, Mr. Kanji was a Senior Financial Analyst with CNL Financial Group from 2010-2012 with focused responsibilities on Corporate Finance, Debt Capital Markets, Asset Management and Acquisitions. Prior thereto, Mr. Kanji was an Analyst with Tishman Hotel & Realty from 2007-2010 in Asset Management focusing on the Orlando & Puerto Rico owned assets. Mr. Kanji received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hospitality Administration/Management from the Rosen College of Hospitality Management from the University of Central Florida.

Paulene Kawasjee is our Vice President of Corporate Strategy and Analytics and is responsible for portfolio and corporate financial analysis and reporting, forecasting, and strategic planning. Ms. Kawasjee first joined the Xenia team in 2012 as a Financial Analyst in our Investments group. Prior to joining Xenia, she was most recently a Research Analyst for Visit Orlando, with focused responsibilities in market research, data analytics and reporting. Ms. Kawasjee started her career with Marriott International, where she worked in various hotel operational roles, across multiple brands, in hotels located in Los Angeles, Maui, Oahu and Orlando. Ms. Kawasjee earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration.

Carol McKnight serves as our Vice President of Risk Management and Contract Administration. In this capacity, Ms. McKnight is responsible for administration of corporate and property level insurance, claims, and risk management programs; managing due diligence efforts necessary during equity or real estate acquisitions, dispositions and loan transactions. Prior to joining us in 2007, Ms. McKnight was Director of Legal Administration for CNL Hotels & Resorts, Inc. from 2002 through the sale of the company in 2007. Prior to her tenure at CNL, Ms. McKnight served as commercial real estate paralegal for Holland & Knight LLP, an international law firm. Ms. McKnight’s emphasis was on due diligence review and analysis on commercial real estate and residential subdivision development projects, tax deferred exchanges, and mergers and acquisitions. Ms. McKnight received her Master of Business Administration degree from Webster University.

Danielle Montoya is our Vice President of Financial Reporting and has held this position since February 2019. Prior to this role, Ms. Montoya served as the Director of Financial Reporting for Xenia since 2015. Ms. Montoya is responsible for all internal and external financial reporting and compliance, which includes public filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, technical accounting, and stock compensation. Prior to joining Xenia, Ms. Montoya was employed by EY as a Manager in their real estate, hospitality and construction assurance practice in both their Boston and Orlando offices. During her tenure she oversaw public and private company audits of REITs, C-corporations, and private equity funds and was involved in various capital market transactions. Ms. Montoya started her career in the real estate practice of RSM serving both public and private clients in the real estate, construction and agribusiness industries. Ms. Montoya received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science in Accounting from the Graduate School of Professional Accounting at Northeastern University.

Kristine A. Osburn serves as our Vice President of Project Management and is responsible for the oversight of multiple renovation and large capital projects. Prior to joining us in 2010, Ms. Osburn was a Vice President of Development for Inland American Communities Group that successfully developed mixed use student and multifamily housing projects throughout the United States from 2005 to 2010. Prior thereto, Ms. Osburn held positions in project management, development, and design including working with a division of Security Capital Group. Ms. Osburn is LEED AP Certified and a Licensed Architect. She received a Bachelor of Architecture from Drury University and studied at Lansdowne College in London, England.

Ashley H. Peeper is our Vice President of Tax and has held this position with Xenia since April 2015. In this role, Ms. Peeper is responsible for all planning and strategy, REIT and tax compliance as well as oversight of property tax. Ms. Peeper brings over twelve years of experience in the tax field within the real estate industry. She began her career with PricewaterhouseCoopers from 2003 through 2007 and was most recently Vice President of Tax with CNL Financial Group from 2007 to 2015. While at CNL, Ms. Peeper worked on the CNL Lifestyle Properties, Inc. and CNL Healthcare Properties, Inc. funds, both public non-traded REITs. Ms. Peeper received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Masters of Science in Accounting from the University of Florida.

Ameya Shinde is our Vice President of Asset Management and has held this position since May 2017. Mr. Shinde was most recently Vice President of Asset Management for Laurus Corporation, a private equity group that invests in hotels, offices and retail assets across the US. At Laurus, Mr. Shinde was responsible for their $750M+ hotel portfolio of upscale hotels operating under the Marriott, Hilton, Starwood and Accor brands. Mr. Shinde brings over 13+ years of hotel and real estate experience to Xenia. Prior to Laurus, he held various positions within Starwood Hotels & Resort’s Real Estate Development team ranging from branded residential development to disposition of owned assets. Mr. Shinde holds a Master of Business Administration degree from New York University as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from State University of New York at Buffalo.

In this role, Ms. Ramey has responsibility for corporate finance, capital markets transactions, corporate financial planning and analysis, investor relations and strategic planning. Prior to joining Xenia, Ms. Ramey was employed by Raymond James & Associates, as an Associate from 2011 through 2014 and an Analyst from 2008 to 2011, in the real estate investment banking group, where she was active in public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and private placements. Ms. Ramey received a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Masters of Science in Finance from the Hough Program in Finance at University of Florida.

Prior to that, Mr. Urban was with CNL Hotels & Resorts, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts and Trammell Crow International. Walter J. Zak serves as our Vice President of Portfolio Initiatives and is responsible in assisting the entire asset management group in maximizing the value of all assets. Prior to joining us in 2013, Mr. Zak was a Vice President with Tishman Hotel & Realty with focused responsibilities for the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin. Mr. Zak joined Tishman in 1996 and held various positions that included close business collaboration with all of the company’s operating participants, most notably The Disney Company, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Hilton Hotels and Resorts, and IHG. Prior to this, Mr. Zak worked in various hotel operational roles and in food and beverage industry. Mr. Zak received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Cornell University.

Prior to joining us, Mr. Zeitoun was Senior Vice President of Operations with Crescent Hotels & Resorts where he oversaw a diversified portfolio of 30 hotels in several major markets. Mr. Zeitoun brings over 25 years’ hotel experience to Xenia including senior management positions with Hyatt Hotels & Resorts and Crestline Hotels & Resorts. His career spans lead roles as general manager as well as leading food and beverage operations. Mr. Zeitoun holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from the American Lebanese University.

Prior to joining us in 2015, Ms. Zook worked in the same capacity at LaSalle Hotel Properties overseeing a diverse hotel portfolio from 2008 to 2015. Before her role in Asset Management, Ms. Zook held the position of Controller with Hyatt Hotels Corporation at a number of properties. Ms. Zook holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
